My favorite things: August edition!

Hey friends!

I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a “favorite things” post. Time just slips away from me! Anyway, let’s talk about some of the items that caught my eye for the month of August:

A Good Read

If you know me, you know that I am a BIG bookworm! I love to curl up with a good book. The Paris Wife by Paula McLain was one of my favorite reads this summer. Although this book is a work of fiction, it offers a glimpse into the complicated and rocky marriage between Hadley Richardson and legendary (but tortured) writer Earnest Hemingway. I enjoyed this book because it meandered along nicely. The story was told through Hadley’s eyes, who was a quiet but strong woman. She and Earnest had adventures and just as many issues. This book was a little bit sad due to the fact that it seemed the marriage was doomed from the beginning. Still, Paris Wife earns a spot on my bookshelf.

Beauty

One of my favorite things about fall is getting to wear darker lipsticks! I am more than ready to whip out my deep reds, browns and mauves. Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Touch Of Spice is the perfect mauve-y brown shade. Despite it being matte, it feels so creamy and velvety on lips! It is one of my favorite drugstore lipsticks. The quality is fabulous and so is the price!

Continuing with the Maybelline theme, we have this Master Hi-Light Powdered Blush in Pink Rose. This blush has a unique woven design that incorporates pinky and peachy-rose shades with soft shimmer–basically three products in one!  I’m looking forward to using this a lot this fall season. Who doesn’t love a soft, pinky flush?

Cool Jewelry

Lastly, we have my Lokai Bracelet! This cool piece of jewelry seems to be all the rage these days! People young and old are wearing them! The bracelet contains a white ball, which is filled with water from Mount Everest (the Earth’s highest point) and a black ball, which is filled with mud from the Dead Sea (the Earth’s lowest point). It symbolizes that we will always have ups and downs in life. I enjoy wearing this bracelet every day!

Hope you enjoyed this short little blog post! What were some of your favorite things for August?

Have a fabulous day!
