Today I have returned for the second half of my best drugstore beauty buys of the summer.
Here is part one if you missed it!
These are all fabulous items that I stumbled across; every one of them is affordable! I have a lot to cover, so let’s get right to it…
Maybelline Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons have been out for a while now; I can’t believe I haven’t tried them until recently. In the past, I have tried other shadow crayons and have found that most of them aren’t very pigmented or crease very easily.
However, that is NOT the case with these! Wow. I am truly impressed by them! As the name suggests, these shadow sticks are HIGHLY pigmented. I purchased the shades Lavish Lavender, a light-purple-silver and Charcoal Chrome, a dark grey with a silvery finish. The best part about these shadow sticks are their metallic finish and ultra-creamy texture. I like to apply these straight to my lids and blend them out with a synthetic shadow brush.
These crayons last all day with the help of some eyeshadow primer and pressed powder as a base. Even though the colors are metallic and shiny, they are still wearable. I can’t wait to try more shades!
Wet ‘N’ Wild ColorIcon Blushes are quickly becoming a cult-favorite that I have just now tried out. Drugstore blushes have the reputation of not being very good quality, but these have changed my opinion!
Mellow Wine is a matte, pinky-salmon shade that works well on medium to dark skin tones. Apri-Cot in the Middle is a muted apricot shade with a hint of gold shimmer. It would work well on light to medium skin tones. I love both of these!
I would describe the texture as smooth and silky. Since these blushes are so pigmented, a little bit goes a LONG way and lasts all day, too. Best of all, these cost me about $2.50 each at Walmart. You honestly cannot beat that when it comes to a high-quality drugstore blush. There are (I think) two more shades that I am eager to try.
I have to admit that when I heard one of my favorite YouTube vloggers, KathleenLights, talked about this next product on her channel, I wasn’t quite convinced that it would work for me. But, that quickly changed…
Essence Cosmetics Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight is a true game-changer, y’all. You might notice that highlighters are all the rage these days. But so often, it seems like they are all too flashy for day-to-day wear.
If you are new to the whole highlighting craze, or just want a natural-looking highlight for everyday, I strongly recommend this product. Although it looks plain in the packaging–in fact, it doesn’t even swatch too well on my hand–it looks STUNNING when applied to my face. Just apply a tad bit of this highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones. They will be naturally glowing with the prettiest soft golden sheen, without being too intense!
HERE is a swatch to look at–it doesn’t photograph well on my hand–but is SO GORGEOUS on the cheekbones!
If you don’t try anything else from this post, I suggest you at least give Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer in Medium a chance! Everything about this concealer is spot-on: the price is excellent, the shades work perfectly to cover blemishes, and the texture is so nice and creamy without sliding all over my face.
The coverage is just right, too. This concealer works so well for everyday wear; it’s not too sheer or heavy. Plus, it doesn’t crease, crack or cake. I don’t know why it took me so long to try! Next time, I am purchasing a shade lighter so I can use it to brighten my complexion! This is definitely becoming a staple in my collection.
Last but not least, we have Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in Berry Naughty. Despite the fact that the packaging is tiny, the product inside packs a very large punch!
At first, I thought these lippies were just another take on a liquid lipstick. It turns out that they are more than that! I would describe this product as a liquid lipstick and concentrated gloss hybrid. Unlike traditional liquid lipsticks, these are very shiny and moisturizing.
Berry Naughty is a berry-red shade with a fuchsia undertone. I think it would look good in the summer and upcoming fall months. I really love the glossy finish as well; although it is not long-lasting, the color leaves behind a nice stain. It reminds me of the lip stain you get when you eat a Popsicle. It smells pleasantly fruity, too.
I do wish Berry Naughty stayed on longer, but I can look past that! The Color Jolts come in bold, pigmented shades, but they also have a couple muted pinks and nudes if a loud lip isn’t your thing!
I hope you enjoyed reading about this latest round of my favorite drugstore beauty products. As you can see, the drugstore brands (especially Maybelline) have really stepped up their game within the past year. I’m impressed!
